engine problem 22r
Im having some engine problems. i just put a new motor in my truck in august, with new everything: fuel pump, water pump, starter, alternator, etc, etc..... when i got done everything ran fine. just perfect. then my fuel pump litteraly blew up. this is when it happened.
PROBLEM= it drives fine until i got to stomp on it. as in open up the secondaries, up hills, and when i put it under power. it cuts out likes its miss firing or its being starved for fuel. on hills its realy bad. what i've done= put a new webber carb. by passed the mechanical fuel pump with an electric one. had some one check the carb to make sure it was set right. I still cant figure it out anyone got any suggestions? |

When you say litteraly blew up, that makes me think that you have contaminates or some type of blockage in fuel lines/ fuel tank. Just a guess though.

That sounds like the exact same problem i had with a 4runner I used to have. It had something to do with the charcoal or emissions canister on the passanger side up near the fire wall. My truck had the problem from the day I got it, so the dude that had it before me could have had the fuel lines hooked up all wrong. Anyway what I did to fix it, was to bypass the canister all together, and the engine ran great from then on. In fact I just talked to the dude i sold it too, and it's still running strong.
Hope this helps Jon |

Redline recommends 2.5 to 3 lbs. of fuel pressure.
Or you could have fuel spillage. found this out the hard way today:cuss: |

ya ur pump has to pump the right pressure. and 22r had less fuel pressure than 22re. i think g's 84 toy is pretty close to the problem.
our friends rig had issures ended up being the fuel injectors. u dont have fuel injectors. but there is a spacer under the carburator than makes similar issues like on g's 84 toy this happend and it baffles us because we were like WTF so we too it to a mechanic and in like 10 minutes he had a spacer made and installed and WALAH engine running perfect. check ur grounds as well maybe its an electrical problem. but other than that GOOOOOD LUCK
