I have just set up my factiry gears with a lock right locker ,,anyway i am going back together with it and the axles are not wanting to go into the carrier any further,,they like approx 1/4" on each side,,i cant bolt up the spindle b/c it is hitting the end of the birf housing and will not go any further..does this have something to do with the locker?
somebody stated that i need to Hold one side pass or driver side axle still,.,while turning the pinion,,well how the hell am i gonna do that,,
its got a lock right locker and both axls are turning,,
need help :bluecryin

tap the end of the axle lightly with a hammer if you spin the pinion and both axles spin then they ARE in the the splines but they are probably not pushed in all the way. so tap the ends with a hammer and they should slide or pop in. try that... and if your axles get stuck like the weeners at the top of this thread then use a pry bar and put it in the nuckle it will pop right out

put the axle in first without the birfeild, sounds like you don't have it all the way in the carrier before your trying to push. always put the axles in the carrier at least once on the bench to make sure everything fits. If you put the long side in first it helps, that way you can reach the pinion and the birf at the same time to turn or hold. also check for birs on your axle spilines.

Me too. What do you think of a 91 toyota 4 runner?? I'm planin on buildin my own stuff for it but do you think they're a good base?

yah it's a good base in my eyes but try to get one with power steering at the least and doing a sas (solid axle swap) sucks. it's not fun in any manner. so be prepared.

well Fellers,,ive pulled the third out and measured with both axels inserted into the carrier as far as i can Drive them with a 4 pound brass hammer..and no dice
the axels enter the side of the carrier and slide thru a smooth surface then to the spilned area..the axel passes through to the end of the splnes and the lock right locker piece of shit has a minor lip on the end to keep the axel from going to far,,however, my axels dont have enough room to go through the splined area and stops when they do..
So heres what i have done..got the trusty griner out and ground off approximately 1/4" of the splines and took the end of the axel down about 80 thousands.. now the axels will slide approximately 1/4" past the minor lip on the inside of the lock right locker

well know i have done it,,
everybody said hit it harder with a bfh.. and now i cant remove the axle and it still likes 1/16" from the spindle neing flush with the knuckle housing..the brass on the backside of the spindle it putting pressure on the end of the birf housing...NOT GOOD...that will create friction while the axle rotates inside the WONDERFUL RICHMOND LOCK RIGHT.......
I KNOW I AM WEARING YOU GUYZ OUT ,,SORRY MAN I JUST WANNA RIDE IN Summertown Tennessee this weekend...

i'd consult lock rite if i was you because it "IS" possible that you got a defective locker unlikely but is possible. so i'd ask them about your problem.

are your shafts new or stock, my friend got aftermarket shafts and they wouldn't go in his ARB and just the passenger side wouldn't go in all the way
