I have a 84 toyota 4x4 i picked it up for 200 bucks with a blown head gasket and tranny.
I have a 351W That I had bult for a play toy in the mudd.
I figured i might be able to drop it in my truck, But after seachin the net
for a few days i have only seen one ford small block in a toyota.
close to every conversion truck i have seen has a chevy small block or a
V6 Is there any reason why GM is perfered over Ford for a swap, besides
personal opinoin? My plan seems prety good but if that windsor won't fit i have 3 grand in a motor and a truck thats busted. I have a set of 2 1/2 ton millatary axels in the back yard, I know i can throw the axels on it no problem but if the motor won't go i'm up a creek without a paddle. Any thoughts or ideas please let me know.

Most people use the GM V6s due to parts availability, as well as "over the counter" conversion parts. Most V8s are too long and require you to relocate the rad and/or hood latch. What you're planning can be done, but you may be making a lot of the parts needed for the conversion. Sounds like it'll be a fun toy once it's done though. Good luck

A friend of mine has a 302 in his 85. I always heard that the ford small block was shorter and since the distributor is not in the back it is an easier fit. Is a 351W and a 302 the same block? (my Ford knowledge is limited) He has a 302 and a well built C4 mated to the stock Toyota t-case. Right now it is in the process of getting 3/4 ton running gear.
