I just bought a 84 runner and I need to order a susp lift. I dont want to change the hangers around a stuff like that for now (daily driver)
I was looking at the skyjacker 7" lift. thats about the height I want. is it any good? what can I do for the steering correction

shocks, brake lines, steering and front drive shaft. best option for steering is hysteer crossover. you can get it at www.marlincrawler.com. if that's out of your budget, you can get an adjustable drag link from 4 wheel parts. marlin also sells brake lines. they sell shocks too but they only sell bilsteins which are expensive. they are good shocks though.

From what I have heard Skyjacker is the best of the "bolt on" kits. I would go for crossover steering with that much lift or you will likely have some serious bump steer.

ya I for sure want to do the crossover steering. but I think I will get the drop draglink for starters and then I can fab up the mounts and everything for the 86 ifs steering box and linkage. and still be able to drive it in the meantime/
im gonna order the skyjacker lift on tuesday. so I dont have to lengthen the rear driveshaft? just the front one?

yes the skyjacker springs are the softest of the bolt on springs. but the 7" ones are not. they are stiff! the 4" or 5" are softer but you will never be flexing like all the rockcrawlers you see. really your best bet is the marlin kit. if your hard set on the not doing any welding, then cash or for a set of custom alcan springs tuned for your rig

ya i have a buddy who has the skyjacker 7'' lift and 35's. he has a detroit in the rear and a lockrite in the front and he doesn't felx worth shit you should seriously reconsider buying this lift it's worthless accept to make your truck higher off the ground. my can go a lot of places but i'll tell ya if he didn't have those lockers he's get stuck on curbs his truck is like a tilt-o-whirl cuz it doesn't flex but to each his own.

I have the skyjacker 7 inch lift(all springs no blocks) and 35's, on my 85 the ride is very rough, and like said above it doesn't flex very well. You'll have to lenghten the front driveshaft about 3 inches....
i think you would be better off leaving it stock if your just lifting it for looks... if its just for looks then i would just do the body lift of 3 inches and some 33's that way you have a decent ride.
