I Have A 4runner 3.0l 3vze--will A 3vzfe Work On An Engine Swap. What Is The F Stand For?

the 3vzfe came out of a camry, unless im mistaken. no, i dont think they will work together, at least from the perspective of the electronics and such. im not even sure the 3vzfe would fit as the whole top end is set up differently, plus its intended to be installed longitudinaly (sp?) in a front wheel drive car, so the mounting and interface system would be all different. One of the swaps that i have looked into for my 3VZE powered Toy is a 5VZ-FE from a 95.5+ taco or 4runner. they will bolt up, and as far as swaps are concerned are fairly simple, as long as you get one with the correct transmission. Off road solutions even makes a kit, but its not cheap..

The "f" in 3vzfe, inless im mistaken, indicates that it has Dual Overhead Cams. dont quote me on that though...

Couldnt be more correct, the anatomy of the sedan engines is diffrent from the truck engines. while im not very familiar with the 6cly models I know the 22r that was installed in sedans had manny diffrences such as distributor placement, and diffrent top end peices.

One of the only car conversions ive really heard of working is the supra swap, and generaly that engine mounts in the supra as it would in a similar year truck. I cannot speak for newer supras tho.

If your doing a conversion tho I might sugest switching form your 3.0l to the 3.4l that was installed in most the trucks and 4runners from 1994+ i belive, not only is this engine more widly supported in notonly aftermarket parts but is one of toyotas most reliable v6 engines in my opinion, put over 400k of pure abuse on my moms 94 runner before it was finaly stolen.
