I am getting ready to do a SAS on my 90 4 runner 3.0l. I am wanting to use a Dana 44 from a waggy but need to know whether to get a passenger side drop or drivers side drop and what years of the waggys had each? Thanks
Seth
its passanger side drop.
im not sure on the waggys years of diff sides.
i know all chevy front d44 or 10 bolts would work for you application.

go with a chevy 44 they are all on the right side, but wouldn't a 60 or a built toy front be stronger.

Are the chevy 44s the correct width? I am being told that the waggy 44s are already the correct width. I dont want to have to cut them down. Yes, a 60 or built toy axle would be stronger but more expensive i believe unless I am wrong. Thanks for any info.

shit, a stock toy is just as strong as a stock 44, but the waggy 44 is going to be a little wide for a 90 runner rear end. A waggy 44 also has the diff on the wrong side for a 90 runner. the waggy 44 is the width of a taco rear end, thats why people use them on taco sas, im not sure what kind of 44 will work for your width, i recommend a toy front with crossover and longfields, unless you want to run 39s, then you should just go with 60s front and rear
k use your stock rear end and save the money... ITS WAY STRONGER THAN A D44
for your front i would just get a toy axle and some spacers... if this is a dd then you wasteing your time on trying to get a d44 the same width as a toy rear end.
either get a d44 and cut it down to size and then use a waggy axle shaft for the long side... is that what you meant ???
but a toy front spacers and chromos with 30 spline is almost as strong as a d60 but i doubt your running bigger than 35's but you could run 37's
d44 dont have as much clearance as a toy axle.

thanks for the help, looks like I will go w/ a toy axle after all. now that I think about, all the info I did get was from a buddy with a sasd taco. another question though. w/ the 3.0l (just rebuilt and bored 30 over), should I run 4.88s or 5.29s with 35s. Thanks, Seth
with an auto and 35's i would say as low as possible regardless... it seems on this board a lot of ppl recommend 4.88 but then they all wish they had done the 5.29's to make it a lot easier on there motor and tranny
