Hey Ive got an 86 pickup, 22re, manual, stock so far. I just replaced the rear axle bearings, and removed and repacked the front, and i recently rebuilt the top 1/2 of the motor(block up). I've ordered a 2'' performance accesories body lift. Im going to get around to installing it in the nex month or so. Any complication that I'm up against or is it pretty straight forward? Im lookingot run 33's on 15x8(or 9)rims. Should I have any problems clearin these? Ive already removed mudflaps and ill be ditching the stock front valence thing in favor of new bumper and skidplate from bumper to IFS crossmember. Right now Im getting anywhere btwn app. 19 and 23mpg, depending on where/how i drive. (4.10 gears) What kind of drop am I looking at running these new tires. I know that theoretically I should increase MPG, because the larger tires allow the engine to spin slower to go the same speed, but that doesnt accoutn for wind, weight, and getting momentum. Anyone running this setup plz let me know whats working/how its working for you.

Thanks
Nathan

hey man,
i have a 85 toy on about 5inches on suspension... when i bought the truck stock i got around 20mpg now sence the truck is lifted and on 33's and stock gearing i get a average of about 17 to 18 mpg, the ihghways driving is fine, what kills your gas milage is going to be driving around town, stoping, etc...
you should be fine

It is pretty straight forward really. Just use all the brackets that they give you. I definantly am not a fan of body lifts, but they work good for what they are. I was able to put 32's on my old 86 without a body lift or even a suspension lift. I had an add a leaf and I cranked the torsion bars up as far as they would go. With a 2" body lift and stock suspesnion, you should have no problem clearing 33's... unless you use a wider rim, like a 15x10. I would stick to a 15x8. I didn't notice much loss in the gas mileage but it truly does depend on the conditions. I have gotten as bad as 12 mpg when the engine was under a load. I wouldn't go past 2" on the body lift. 4.88's work good with 33's.

I've had a body lift in mine for nearly fifteen years now with no issues
you'll have to extend the steering shaft by knocking the c pins out of it.
the body lift is really easy to install in most cases. just remeber to check the
frame to body connections for stretch when your jacking the body up. watch
your brake lines where they go from the body to the frame. you may have to
bend your shifter a little to clear the body once its lifted.

the issues I had were lifting the bumpers up to match
also covering that ugly gap between the frame and the body
the steering shaft
the shifter boot and body clearance at the shifter
the brake lines
the radiator fan shroud

I have an 84 and ran a 2.5 inch bodylift and 33's with no clearance issues
as far as gears go I ran stock gears for years with the 33's you have to down
shift a bit on the hills but it was livable. but I had no power and my gas
milage was about 12-15 mpg

higher taller body, more room for air turbulence under the truck, more width to the tire, more rolling resistance to the tires, reduced ratio on the drive line, engine in a bad area for proper rpm's, greater wind resistance all equal less mpg. but I drove mine like that for three or four year.

and I would second the 4crwlr lift idea it's a lot better product.
I have a drive train lift from him that was a perfect fit. and great design.

I made my own body lift blocks out of some materials I had available to me at the time which are the same type materials 4crwlr uses now.
