Anyone know of a good source to get a remanufactured 3.0? I was going to sell this 4runner but just found out my head gasket is puking water and steam out the exhaust and not too many people would pay much money for 4runner with a bad motor. Working with a limited budget of around $3,000 so a 3.4 swap is out of the question. Plus this is my DD so that makes it even worse. Most I'm looking at is having it down for a weekend to replace it. Any help would be appreciated!

what year is the 4runner? there is a good chance that yours might be covered by the 3.0 engine recall that came about because of bad headgaskets. copy down the VIN and take it to your stealership and have them check to see if its covered under the special service program. if yours is and it failed on you there is a good chance you will get a new or almost new engine out of the deal for pretty cheap. at the very least they will be obligated to fix the bad headgasket and any damage that resulted from the failure.

Its a 91. I think the previous owner said the head gasket was done at 90,000 miles but I wouldn't trust it. I can call and see what they say. Now the temp guage is going pretty high so I figure it will blow at anytime. It sucks that it is my daily driver too.

You can get a remanufactured one with a warranty on ebay for under 2k.

Yeh I checked that out too. Just wondering if anyone knew of them being reputable. I heard some are poorly remanned on ebay and some aren't.
