of course we have problems with our carbs cutting out on steep stuff. Thats why we swap to EFI or propane. The fuel dumps out of the bowl when youre at an angle. A few things you can do that sometimes helps: lower the float level, use a fuel pressure regulator, rejet your carb, rig up some way to vent your bowl so it doesn't dump into the engine at an angle, turn your carb backwards so it only dumps when going downhill. These help, but nothing beats propane or EFI for running at all elevations, including upside-down (not that you really want to be running in that situation).
On those springs, you probably have to get longer slip driveshaft in addition to moving your mounts.

all you need to do is locate the centerpin in the stock location, if that means moving the rear mount back 2 in and the front forward 6 in then so be it, but if i remember correctly, a stock rear spring 79-88 is approx 47 inches long, which makes a 56 9 inches longer than stock, so 6 forward and 2-3 back seems like the correct measurements. and if its wrong then you can just never buy from marlin again.

tack weld first, then you can put it all together see how it sits, you have to do similar with chevy's

i think its 4 inches back on the rear mount and 5 inches forward to make up the diffrence but nows a good time to extend or shorten your wheel base put it where you want it and what not. you dont have to do what instructions say all the time... depends on what you want.

but ya 6 and 2 sounds about right but 5 and 4 sounds a lot right.

its almost impossibl to re-use the stock one safely, i have seen it done, but it is reallly hard, its easier to just go buy a new one from toyota for a couple of bucks.

shiping for that stuff will be cheap, like under 10 dollars cheap, those things are so light, and if i remember right, i picked mine up from karl Malone Toyota out of salt lake for something like 15 a piece, plus shipping. i think its well worth it, because i don't have to worry about ripping off a cobbled together shackle mount then losing controll.

dont buy stock ones... buy marlin crawler ones there so much better.

3" back puts the shackle too verticle. 2" back is good 2.5" max. to keep the same wheelbase move the front hanger 6" forward.

That was my experiance with the marlin rears. I moved the the front perch forward 6" eye to eye, and you can see where that landed my wheels( remember, the wheel is going to swing back as the spring compresses. Definitly tack it and go through the extra work, and rember on the shackle angle, the springs are going to settle a lot, so don't go for a perfect 45 degree angle at first, or else you'll be beating your frame in no time.
