I've got a 92 Toyota 4x4 pickup that has anti-lock brakes and the ABS brake light stays on all the time now. In the morning when I first start the truck to go to work, the brake light ( the one for the parking brake) stays on for a while as well, but it'll go out. I have a feeling that the normal brake light comes on because the computer knows the ABS brake light is on. My brakes feel normal when being used and I'm wondering what I need to do to fix the ABS brake light issue. My Toyota manual doesn't say very much about ABS troubleshooting.

Also, how is the throttle cable supposed to be adjusted after you've taken the intake off? My manual does not say anything about the adjustment of the throttle cable either. I noticed that there is a arm on the throttle linkage that touches a round dowel looking thing that has a flat tip screw driver head ( this would be on the side toward the front of the engine. I've noticed that I can manually move the throttle linkage just a little bit before it actually starts moving the throttle plate. I don't know if that arm piece is supposed to rest against that dowel looking pin part of the tbi either :dunno:

Thanks for the help,
Doug

I would take it to a mechanic or even the Toyota dealer to get a diagnostic scan to find out why the ABS light is on. The code should be stored in the computer. 9 times out of 10 it is a speed sensor. Have you checked the brake fluid level? Many times that is why the red brake light stays on. Toyota trucks are known for the red brake light staying on even when the parking brake is no longer applyed. When the red light stays on, try wigglng the parking brake and push in on it. My 86' does that.

My brakes feel normal and the brake fluid is full in the master cylinder. The red brake light will come on when I first fire the truck up in the morning and stay on for 20 minutes or so before it goes out. I'm thinking it has something to do with the computer knowing the ABS light being on. My brother had a ABS light staying on all the time in his diesel Dodge and it was a broken wire at the ABS sensor on the rear axle. So I might try to find a good used one at the wrecking yard.
