engine noise

i have a clicking noise in my 81 toy pu, sounds like it is comin from around where the header bolts on. could an exhaust like make that loud of a noise? if not what could it be?

Check to make sure the bolts on the header are tight where it bolts to the head. If they are loose sometimes it can make a noise that sounds like valves ticking. Also it may be that your valves need to be adjusted.

ok ill check the bolts, but if it is the valves that need adjusted how much is that going to cost me do you know

It shouldn't cost too much. You can do it yourself if you have a feeler guage and a manual.
