I might be picking up a PRISTINE 86 FJ-60 (I think...or is is 62 or 80?) I would love all the specs you could possibly give me and some of the problems they might have. Im in Cali and my dad who is in WA is lookin at it for me. It has ZERO rust, no rips tears or gouges in the seats, no cracks in the dash, headliner is like new, but he said that when the A/C is on, the Cruiser's idle likes to fluctuate up and down a little...is that normal? he also said that the steering is a little loose...maybe because the steering stabilizer is shot...What motor is in the 86? 2F? I would like to get some specs. How are the timing chains on those? My dad said the Cruiser in question ticks a little but it sounds like it only needs a valve adjustment. Im getting pictures sent to me next week...so i will know a little more about it.

It has a Thule safari rack w/ hella lights on it. hella lights on a brushguard on the front, and headlight washers!?! did those come stock? Its just about as pristine as pristine can get though, from what i have been told...the guy wants 6900 for it, but it books in perfect condition for 5300...dad is gonna offer him 5800...I need a buyer for me truck now, its for sale again! Someone let me know if this is a good buy ;) I know it is, lol...

86 is a FJ60, 2F I6 engine, no timing chain, gear drive :D, 4spd manual trans, excellent T-case, same birs/knuckles as a PU/4Runner with bigger vented brakes.

Valve adjusts are a common need, easy to do in ~1hr. The headlight washers are stock on later FJ60's.

Hope that helps... :D

I got the pics today in the Snail Mail, but I dont have scanner to scan it in...and my damn Credit Union wont loan me the money to get it! Im HEATED! Its an awesome, awesome truck. The dealer wants $7999 for it. Im willing to pay upto $7000, but 8k is too much for me, Hopefully he will take somewhere in the neighborhood of 62-6500. That would be perfect for me, but I have to get a loan on the damn thing. Its gorgeous, ZERO rust, and No rips or tears in the interior. Its awesome. I cant wait to get it. Just got to get an institution to get me a loan going!

Just currious, But you are willing to pay up to $7000.00 for a '86 Landcruiser? I would hold out a bit and buy a newer FZJ80 93-97 Landcruiser, More power more goodies. There is a reason why the Bank wont lend you money on a 19 year old vehicle....its old, most likely not worth the $$$
There has been much talk of late about a 93 TLC in the $5-8K range, You might have to deal with high milage, and a few other problems but they are great vehicles.
I understand wanting a top notch vehicle but unless you have cash, you might not get what you want unless its newer and more expensive.
Good luck

It was sold, damn my luck. The reason I was willing to pay 7k for it was because the thing was MINT...Just absolutely outstanding. I mean, besides the steering and the valves rattling a bit, there was ZERO rust and nothing wrong with the interior...the carpet was even still in good shape! Im looking into a 98-02 Taco DoubleCab TRD now (4wd of course!) Thanks for the info.

There is a very nice FJ60 for sale right now on the LCML. Might want to check it out. I also see many FJ60's for sale for way less than that. An 86 better be in sweet condition for that much. Also check the new Toyota Trails classified section for a rig if you have access to one. Good luck.
