My buddy's 84 SR5 extended cab has 4.30s stock. It all depends on what options. His also had a stock L/S.

There was one year I believe 1979 that had 3:90's and I believe 1981 had 4:30's. Some of the newer models had as low as 4:88. A friend of mine had a 94 with 4:56 stock.

it also depends on if it is automatic or manual.

85 Five speed should be 4:10, I think the auto's were 4:30.

I agree about an 85 5spd being 4.10s, but the 84s were strange. My buddy's is an 84 5spd extended cab SR5. It came from the factory with 4.30s and a rear L/S. You most likely have the 4.10s, but it wouldn't hurt to run the tags. If I remember right, it should be on the firewall. Sorry, not where I can look at one of mine right now.

I had an 84 and it came stock with 4.11 gears. I now have a 79 and it came stock with 4.10 gears. From 79 to 83 thay had 4.10 gears and in 84 thay changed them to 4.11's. :Rockonman

As far as I know, a limited slip was 'NOT' offered, or I have never seen one.
Also, the 6cyl 4x4 with an auto had 4:56 . The 4cyl 88-95, with an auto and 16" wheels, had 4:88's, stock. Some 4spd trucks also had 4:30 gears. I used to deliver parts for a couple of years, and have seen alot of different ones. 4/6cyl, 2wd or 4wd, auto/stick, AND 15" OR 16" wheels determines your ratio. Don't think the 2wd 4runners (6cyl) have the same diff as 4wd, ran into that problem once. Hope this helps............

I have a stock LSD from an 84 SR5 extended cab pickup sitting in my garage. 22R/5spd with 4.30s. I wasn't aware they were offered either. 4cyl auto had 4.30s most years. V6 manual with 225 tires had 4.10s, V6 manual with 31s had 4.56s, V6 auto with 225 tires had 4.56s while V6 auto with 31s had the factory 4.88s.

If you can get me a part # and a photo for a factory 84 LSD, I'll send YA $25.00. I'm not looking for one, because I have NEVER seen one. Exspecially 79-89 models as I have a fair amount of hands on experience with soooo many different toyota 4x4 parts (mostly 84-95).

The first one to respond accordingly, gets the $25.00 :)

I'll see if I can get the axle codes. The truck belongs to a friend of mine that went with high pinion 3rds. I got the LSD to put in my wife's stock 87 Runner.
