when did the fj80s start and when did they go from SFA to IFS....thanks

FJ80's started in 91, But FZJ80's began in 93 to 97, Then they went IFS, I dont know if there is a change between the early or late axles.
Thinking of finding a locked high pinion?!?

actually im looking for a fj80 for a dd and eventually turn it into a wheeler.....but high pinion would be nice too and some lockers

As a suggestion I would get a 93-97 FZJ80 due to more power 4.5ltr and a better tranny, Some say. the older 91-92 FJ80's used the 3F engine 4.1 ltr.
Neither are going to be good on fuel but the FZJ80's are a bit more refined and have alot more options...er..I mean standard items.

Depending on where you are and the condition of the vehicle I would expect to pay anywhere from $5000.00-20,000.00 for a FZJ80.

with some lockers

You will also need to be vary patient for this, I have heard that less than 10% came with factory lockers, I would love them too :No pity: But an ARB will do fine when I get aroung to it.

thanks for all the help....ya im pretty young so im in the 6500 dollar range im just gonna wait on it and try to find a decent one...


maybe not one with lockers if they are that few.... arbs will do fine

worst part about it is that when i was about 10 years old (im only 17 now) my dad had a beautiful fj80 and he had lockers....lease was up so he gave it back and never thought twice about it he wasnt like a hardcore wheeler he barely knew anything about it....the thing was a taank but i guess you learn from mistakes..
