I just got my first wheeler last month. It has sat for about a month, but it was running before I let her sit. It smoked when it ran before it sat and still does, but it idles well and will revv without dying and stuff. How do I stop it from smoking? And yes, there is a little oil getting to the plugs.

Chilton's repair manual says "An oil fouled spark plug indicates an engine with worn piston rings and/or bad valve seals allowing excessive oil to enter the chamber." If I replace the seals and piston rings will the smoking stop?

I have two problems, one, lack of a cherry picker to actually take the engine out to rebuild it, and two, lack of knowledge of how to rebuild an engine.

the first can be taken care of with ~$150. The second you can read up on ... also get a factory service manual or maybe a chiltons/haynes manual. A $35 engine stand would also probably be nice, don't forget an extra $20 for bolts long enough to go through the stand and into the block.
hey i am lazy and hate building engines crap... if i had that truck i would change the oil and put in a quart of duralube..... that seems to help out my older trucks a lot.
might sound dumb but it seems to work pretty good.
that might help with the rings ...

Yeah, I think I'm going to go with a new set of gaskets, replace the timing, and the piston rings. Thanks a lot.
