So which route to take now? Supercharge, Turbo, engine swap?

My engine is fresh and puts out great. I have no complaints on the trail with ample power in combination with my low gears.

On the road I would just like a little more HP. (wouldn't we all with 22r's?)

Of course I really do not want to play with the great realibility of the 22RE. What have you done? Supercharge, Turbo maybe? Looking for some input and options.

My current engine has a cam, complete exhaust, Jacobs ignition, yada yada...Im wondering how a turbo or SC would work out.

I have the same problem. For the money it would cost to do either, you might as well swap it. I will be running a 250 hp 4.3 vortec with less than 10,000 miles on it. With every thing I will be into this less than $5000. Keep in mind that this is my DD and I tow quite a bit. I know, I know, I would like to keep it toyota too, But this was my best option. Can you imagine when you step on the skinny pedal and have at least 100 extra horsies :Rockonman :Rockonman

I am very pleased with my 22RE! Just a rebuild and a TRD cam. Of course It is in a light truck and not a Runner.

I am even more pleased with my 4Runner though. You know what I did to it, and it is just beginning it's life. By far, the best bang for the buck. But yes, there is no "kit" for it and it will take some time and work to make it a clean install.

You could also check out Jeff's Toyota which is very sweet. Although I guarentee that he has spent at least twice as much money as I and his motor is to the max. I have more hp and torque and my motor isn't even awake yet.
