3.0 Head gasket recall ?

I just called My local Toy dealer and mine has not had the
Recall done yet, the guy told me to bring it on in and they will do it.
My truck has 175,000 on it now.
Is it worth having the head gaskets replaced now, or just drive it till it goes and then rebuild it. With that many miles it is more than likely needing a Valve job, and they want 600-700 bucks for that.
I'm thinking if they take it apart now, they will call me and say well it needs this or it needs that, and that is not covered by the recall.
So I'll have to pony up the bucks to fix that or I'll get my truck back with a box of parts and an engine that is takin' apart.
It runs good now.
What do you think I should do, or what would you do.

Just tell them to make you a list of what is covered and a list of what it may ALSO need and then you'll let them know.

i would replace it now. once the head gasket goes it could cause lots of other problems. so id say now better than too late.

There have been stories on several BBS's of guys getting almost whole new engines as a result of this recall for like $300 in parts that were not covered. give it a shot, you might get lucky...
