during my axle swap to a wider 3rd. gen axle, I just ripped it off, because it wouldent bolt up right to the new axle housing.. it looked like it was frozen anyway..
Is it ok to run the truck without having that "brake link" thing attatched???

That sounds like your LSPV (Load Sensing Proportioning Valve). It measures how much weight you're carrying in back, and adjusts the front to back bias of the brakes. If you want it to bias the brakes to the rear then just zip tie it up to the frame. That's what a lot of people do when they lift their rigs.

It's your rear proportioning valve for your rear brake's.You can leave it off,but it shopuld be hooked back up.Some people completely eliminate it,some cut the rod and fab up some kind of adjuster for it,or you can by a ajustable propor valve that mount's by your master cyl.
yup proportioning valve.
i bought a milwood from summit racing for like 60 bux and routed it by my MC and brakes work good.

I like the zip tie Ideas... Im not going to be carring anything in the back of this truck other than a spare tire and tools.. this truck is just for wheeling.. I have another daily driver yo, to do all the haulin and pulling.
the brakes are all going to be weird anyways.. I put the wider axle in it with the much bigger drum brakes.. I guess Ill have to drive it and see how it does.

When I put a wider 2nd gen axle on my Runner the LSPV rod mated up just fine. I just made the rod to axle link longer and adjustable, and it works fine.
