K&N makes a filter kit for your rig. Go here to check it out: http://www.knfilterchargers.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=E-2820 (Air Filter) And here: http://www.knfilterchargers.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=HP-2004 (Oil Filter). Hope that helps!

i have the same engine as you in an 88 runner..and on mine i picked up a downey off-road air intake system..it runs about 150 or so the prices change from time to time..basicly it is a crome pipe with a huge open air element and a aluminum casting mount..it installs fast and easy..the performance gain i got from it was awesome..it has more accelration out of first and into other gears..it work great..and k&n makes one 2 it runs around 230 and it is the same except it has black tubing like the stock tubing so it doesnt look as cool, my bro has the k&n filter on his v6 pick up it works great to.

What I have seen doen and this is what i am planning on doing as well is to move the battery to the drivers side where the air box is since this is the hotter side of the motor. Then make a new pipe coming out of the EFI plenum with the MAF meter and use a cone filter on the passenger side.

THANKS FOR THE INFO FOLKS!
I CHECKED OUT DOWNEY'S AIR INTAKE SYSTEM, AND IT LOOKS LIKE A PRETTY GOOD SET UP. I DO HAVE A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS THOUGH..
(1) IS THE FILTER GOOD QUALITY? (LIKE THE K&N FILTER)
(2) IS THE FILTER WASHABLE?
(3) HOW LONG ARE THESE FILTERS SUPPOSED TO LAST?
I JUST NEED TO KNOW IF THIS FILTER IS AS GOOD AS THE K&N I USE IN MY STOCK FILTER BOX, I KNOW THE OVERALL AFTER MARKET AIR INTAKE SYSTEM WILL OUT PERFORM THE STOCK SYSTEM, BUT I DON'T WANT TO REPLACE THE FILTER EVERY 3 MONTHS OR SO..
THANKS.. --J.P.-- :bye:

you could try doing something like this:
http://www.yotatech.com/~corey/tech/blu_intake/blu.htm
and use it with one of those cheep cone filter adapters they have on ebay for like $5 and a K&N.

i would imagine the principal would be the same, just bend the felxible tube the way you want it and boom! add fittings as necessary and your good to go.

the downey filter is pretty much the same as the K&n no i couldnt tell a differance in them except the different color.it looks just like the k&n air element and is washable to. i got mine in nov. and it still works great and still looks clean.
