i have a 1987 4runner and the rear window defroster doesnt work. the fuse in the fuse panel is ok. when i push the on/off button for the defroster the light comes on but the window just doesnt defrost.......any ideas to fix?
check the relay, probably under the LH kick panel. just replaced the one on the Cruiser.

it shouldnt be that hard to fix cause i went and removed all the back wire harness and it was alot of wires for nothing but look on the driverside back inner panels and there might be a relay or you could do what i did. i dont have: defrost, windowwipermoter, window washer. or anything back there i toke out all electrical besides turn signals and only two wires to the motor but i wouldnt recomend this but if this dosent work u could rewire :p:
yea, looking at a relay location diagram, it shows it aft of the driver's side door behind the side panel somewhere.

take off the rear tailgate panel and check out the wiring. water tends to get inside if the seal at the base of the window if worn. this of course will cause corrosion, that could be your problem. or the thin heater wires that run on the window could be worn out in places. --j.p.--
