header downpipe?

have any of you had problems with it breaking, or cracking on the 22re...ive gone through 2 of them so far... any ideas? should i weld the hell out of it make it super thick? should i buy a whole new header/exhaust system? moneys sort of an issue...but broken exauhst KILLS the gas milage wich kills money almost as fast...

HELP!! lol

I had mine crack where it goes 2 into 1... welded it up and never had trouble with it again... but i did notice that the clamp that clamps the down tuble to the engine/tranny has broken off so im gussing their was to much twist on the clamp causing the crack in the first place...

I had to replace the one on my wifes Runner at 150k. Same problem as mentioned above, the clamp was bad and not supporting it. I've got 160k on the one in her "new" Runner and no problems, but the clamp is there and I check it probably semi-anually(sp?).

so you'd recomend just welding the hell out of it, and maken sure that clamp is on real good and snug (mine rusted out...replaced it..but maybe i will fab up somethen better)

I never replaced the clamp... I just added a few new hangers farther down teh line as their seemed to be way to much stress at the original clamp point.
