full width axle swap

Hey i have an 1984 truck and am wanting to install a full width dana 44 in the front. I am wanting to know/see what other people have done to make this conversion work.

sky manufactureing makes a kit. depending on the front springs u use u will need to out board the shackles. u are goin to need to run cross over steering and i would use the GM one ton ends. oh yeah about the drive shaft there is a cross over u joint that is toy/ dana 44 that people use but is isnt as stong as a toy u joint. High angle drive line makes a dana44 flange that a normal toyota d line will bolt to. i currently use this on my own truck and love it.

I cut down a chevy dana 60 2.5 inches on the longside, and moved the drivers side perch(long side) in to line up with stock width Toy perches(29 1/2) inches. I paid $100 to have it cut down, and then I ordered a Moser inner for the long side for $158 shipped.

$258 total and it bolted up. The other option was to outboard springs, I didn't want to mess with a suspension that really works well as it is, if I change the setup will be to coilovers.

i outboarded the shackles under my frame.

used a d44HP from a 3/4 suburban. works great and i like how wide it is with my 12.50 tires and 12 inches of lift.

the stability and unsprung weight helps a ton.

got pics of the build up but its with crap camera so not as vieable as i wanted.

but ya i like toyotas axles. hate chevys. love dana.

My first idea was Dana 44 front 14-bolt rear. I did a little research and have know decided Dana 44 front and a Dana 60 rear. Any opinion’s. And ROCKCRAWLINTOY had said something about a conversion kit; I can’t find the web site (I want to see what this "kit" looks like. Thanks for the help.

whats wrong with the 14 bolt rear end ??? this is what i have 44 front 14 bolt rear.

i have no issues with it. it drags on rocks with the small 37's. but.. i have not chopped the bottom off yet. and i am getting 40s soon i hope.
dna 60 u can run lower gears but my 14 bolt has 5:13's and thats low enough with the dula tcase.

anyways 14 bolts are cheaper than d60's and mine came with a detroit in it WOOYA
