Is the bell housing different on the 22RE Turbo than the standard 22RE? Is there a bell housing that will interchange from something else if they are?
Thanks in advance.

yes they are different; turbo trucks came with a different tranny than the NA trucks. what are you looking to do, somebody might be able to point you in the right direction with some more info...

The turbo trucks came with an "R" series transmission (R151 with a 4.30(?) first gear) the bellhousings won't bolt to the "W" or "G" series transmissions found behind the injected and carburated (respectively) motors but, can be used to bolt a 20R,22R,22RE to a R150 V6 trans. The V6 bellhousing can also be bolted to the turbo trans and would be great for swapping a Tacoma 3.4 (since they used an R150 trans) into an earlier truck and keep the 23 spline gear drive T-case........or so I've been told ;) ..........Hans

Don't mean to butt in on this theme, but since we are talking about bellhousings, does anybody know what an 85 diesel 2wd bellhousing will bolt on to. I was thinking of putting the diesel motor into a 4wd yota with maybe a blown gas engine. Antbody know if it would bolt up.

22s bellhousings are tranny specific like a Chev. Not like a Ford where the BH is engine specific.
Look here. This should help.
