Ok, i am going to put in a ford 302 in my truck. i wanted to know how many people have done it and what company they went throuhg for the motor mounts. i am thinking about using NWOR. Also, since i will be using the stock transmission, i need the bellhousing adapter from them as well. the only problem is that it is more than the motor that i am buying. yea yea yea, i know, i will eventually change out the trans and the axles, but for now, i will be using the stock one, plus its been rebuilt already. If anybody has used North West Offroads' motor mounts and bellhousing kit, please let me know what u think. thanks,
troy

A friend of mine's toy had the 302 already in it when he bought it. He is running a C4 tranny that is super over built. It has a stage three shift kit, and extra clutch packs. Toyota tranny's don't last long behind V-8's. My father-in-law had a built Buick 215 and he went through 7 or 8 tranny's in it. The transfer cases don't seem to mind the V-8. The axles seem to hold up suprisingly well, it just depends on how hard you are on it. My friend is harder on vehicles than anyone I have ever seen, he went through a few ring and pinions.
It is a process though, you start with a motor then you start beefing up from there. Find out what breaks and what doesn't. He has an advance adapters adapter from the tranny to the t-case. The 302 fits quite nicely under the hood, looks almost factory.

Mines not a Ford but I have a 355 SBC (bored .030 over), Edelbrock performer intake, 650 carb, RV cam and a TH350.
Are the Advanced adapters motor mounts any cheaper than the NWOR mounts? They look about the same. Either way your gonna have to torch off your old ones and weld those on so be prepared for that. My buddy has a set of Advanced and he likes them. My mounts are Solid, Just waiting to rip them off before I switch to advanced or NWOR mounts.
I know you dont want to hear it but I would run the auto tranny and get an adapter for your case. Save your self some time and grief. My axle has held up real well so far, and I've gotten on it pretty good. I havent done any 5 grand hole shots in it, but from a rolling stand point its taken some abuse.
I have developed a little clunk though! :)

Yeah my friends toy liked to take teeth off of the ring gear. One time every third tooth was missing! He likes to rev it up to around 7 or 8 grand a lot though. He was going to convert it to all three quarter ton running gear. So the last trip it was out he broke the front and rear end, and the transfer case. He sold the axles and his cross over steering now it is just sitting in pieces, I think it may be that way for a while. Other projects have taken priority.
