I have a 89 PU w/ 22re. I am going to replace the timing chain and I want to know where is the best place to buy one? Should I get the metal guides, or do the plastic ones work alright? Can you replace the chain without removing the head? :Help:

I've always used oem quality (OSK brand) Japaneese kits and have never had any problems (although a steel backed driver's side guide would be a good idea). No, you don't have to remove the head, you can just drop the pan (although, it's a little more difficult with an ifs truck) just be careful not to screw up the gasket between the timing cover and head when you remove the timing cover and reseal that area well when reassembling. I've done several this way. Oh, yeah, don't forget to remove that bolt below the distributor drive  .........Hans
