So here is the deal. Im having my crossover done on my 85 4runner this week and I am trying to make sure i get everything done that needs to be done.

For the front I have combo spring packs. the first 3 top leaves are 87 toyota rear leaves. the next 2 are the bottom leaves from a 4" pro comp yj pack. and the last leaf is the overload leaf? from the toyota pack.

how much lift will this net me? I have a 2 inch drop hanger with holes drilled 1.5 inches forward. what will i need to do shackle wise for this hanger and spring setup?

what else may I need to do. I ran the search, but it seems like everyones setup is just a little bit different. Is there anything else im forgetting?

thanks for your help

if u mount them in the stock holes in the frame about 4-5 inches

if u mount it below the frame with 4 inch chackles 6-7 inches maybe even 9 inches

I run a hybrid pack up front consisting of the stock first three leaves from my 85's rear pack and three, progressively, cut down leaves from a Downey 3" rear pack. With them mounted in the stock hangers, with 3" longer than stock shackles, netted me about 4-5" of lift and a pretty plush, flexy ride. I think using the stock (diving board:eek: ) overload leaves on the bottom might result in an overly stiff pack, knowing how stiff Pro Comp's rear springs are..........Hans

DO NOT USE OVERLOADS IN A FRONT LEAFSPRING PACK

bad mistake i did not read that part in ur first post.

ummm also if ur using stock rears as ur main leafs up front even with a drop hanger i dont think they reach ur stock rear holes in ur frame and u can reuse ur shackles if they work but if the leafs are a bit to long then there are cheap solutions.

first mount it up and see if ur shackles push against ur frame if they do then buy these

banana shackles were designed for this sort of project.

i used rears up front and chevies in there rear.

here is the write up i did for ppl that had questions or just wanted a diffrent look on similar supsension.

TAKE OUT THE OVERLOAD

Why should you take the overload leaf out? I left mine in, have been wheeling and it's been fine. My springs sit with just a light positive arch, flex as much as I could ever want/need them to and haven't had anything negative happen by having the overload in there. So what's the deal with the overload needing to be removed.

Jon: I've got some pics for you sometime. How's the build going?
