idle goes up and down about 200 rpms at a time. when warmed up, and internal coolant leak, i think since it is not coming out externally. also no collant in oil , not milky ,although i am losin coolant ,and gettin a little pressure out of the over flow which pushes coolant out of the over flow tube was wondering if this could be a bad intake manifold gasktet
thanks Ben

When you say "internal coolant leak", what do you mean? Where do you think it's going? To be "internal" means, to me anyway, that it's going into the crankcase somehow. But if there is no water in the oil, then it's not going inside.
I don't think it could be leaking into a cylinder as the compression would push it out the other way, therefore heating the water way up. Just for giggles, pull the plugs. Are they white, like they have been boiled? Any water dripping out of the tailpipe?
I feel for you....

Your rad may have a vapor leak, there is no way to see it. The coolant level drops without a trace. Only solution is to swap out the rad, pressure test it or replaceit . It *may solve* your idle problem as well...

I agree...do a pressure test. A vapor leak would only occur under pressure. When it's cold or off there isn't enough pressure to push the coolant out. If you pressureize the radiator you may find it.
Most radiator shops can have yours cored and tested in a day or two if you pull it out and take it to them. Save you labor $ if you pull it.
Check your hoses.

i mean like leakin before the the valves like mixin with gas at intake manifold it also runs real rough oil is good

Is this the idle goes up and down when your stopped/coasting and have your foot on the brake syndrome?
Either way your idle is probably to high and the TPS is freaking out....

Had the same problem, turned out I had a blown head gasket. I would get bubbling in my overflow tank and pressure from the radiator cap when I would remove the cap on a cold engine.

rpm change could be from the cold start injector going bad... if you have fuel injection. unplug your battery for a few minutes to clear old engine codes and see if that helps keep the idle from jumping up and down. ive noticed if a thermostat has been changed or if there is a change in the cooling system it sometimes has an adverse effect on the cold start injector causing rpm to raise and lower continuously.

I had the same prob with my 22re. Some days my rpms would jump up and down rapidly while idling and other days it would be fine. it got so bad to the point where i finally blew my head gasket. My radiator would always be boiling after i shut the thing off. After i changed my gasket, got a new thermostat, and my sure there was no air in my rad. it has ran fine ever since.
