View Full Version : Clunk in drive line.

there is a clunk somewhere in the drive line, when i reverse, then stop, it clunks. might do it when i put it in a foward gear after reverse....? i think. thinking its a u joint somewhere along the line... maybe could be something else? any suggestions

grab a hold of your drive shaft and try to move it side to side and up and down, according to the alignment of the caps on the U-joints. Really give it a good yank and pull. if you see any of the u joints move replace them. If not look at your pinion and make sure the nut didn't back off, or the bearings arent loose.

grease your splines and other U-joints while your down there also!

Are you running rear lift blocks? You might be getting a little axle wrap and causing a bind at your slip joint. Do like Spider suggested and try lubing the slip joint........Hans

Also, check your u-bolts on the leaf springs.
