1994 toyota pickup 22re 161,000 miles

oil in the coolant, replaced head gasket, new gaskets and checked head, and deck no cracks or warpage

timing chain cover has very deep marks in it from the chain, after the guides broke. was wondering if a hole in the cover would let oil get into the coolant . also would this cause engine to over heat causing a situation like a bad head gasket

thanks

Is there water in the oil? Seems like if there is oil in the water, (OK< coolant) then the opposite might be true as well. Did this happen right after you put the head back on?

I am assuming that you went back in and re-torqued the head bolts after you ran it some.

Holes in the chain cover can defintiely let oil into the water, as the water pump is right there.

You asked if it would cause it to over-heat...I don't think so, but I most definitely could be wrong. What causes overheating with a blown head gasket is exhaust going into a water journal, and as there is no exhaust in the timing cover, (?) then it shouldn't make it overheat. But here's the rub- water gets into the oil when the motor is cold...but when the cooling system get's pressurized,it's going to push water (coolant..sorry, habit ) into the timing cover, which obviously will contaminate your oil.

And seriously jack up those moving parts, I might add...

SO...check for a milkshake in the oil, and do a pressure check on your cooling system.

Any chance your oil in the coolant is from the blown HG? Did'ja flush the radiator?
