I have an 85 PU that I plan to put 35s on soon and was wanting to put an 87 rear axle in it for the wider stance so i wouldnt scrub the frame when flexing. I understand this will make my my front axle not line up with the rear and since this is a daily driver that needs to be fixed. I know you can do it with wheel spacers but i was wondering if i could just buy my two front wheels with different backspacing than the rear and if so what should the differece be to line the rear and front tires up? thanks for any help.

Straight axles are 55" wide while IFSs are 58" wide. That would be 1 1/2" less BS for matching stance.
Instead you might look at putting the IFS hubs on the straight axle with an adapter to mount the rotor. That way you get the vented discs and bigger calipers while you're at it.
hes right that kit is good i think u get it from marlincrawler.com
aslo u could do the rims diffrent but u want a nice stance as well and it would look funny with front rims offset and rear not.
also u wouldnt have a decent spare tire with a rim to match the front and rear at the same time so when u blow a tire the rim wont match one or the other so its sorta wierd.
also u couldnt not rotate ur tires very easily .
the 2 best ideas are get ifs calipers and the kit or get the 1.5 inch spacers from allprooffroad.com or marlincrawerl.com
good luck

It wont hurt anything to just leave it like that ..........
but I'd do the spacers or the IFS hub kit if it bothered me......
I have 2" spacers all around on my 84 4runner

SKY manufacturing and Front Range Offroad have the IFS hub adapters. :read:
A.O.R. has some real nice steel spacers if you go that route. Here in Utah they aren't legal on the highway so you should check your local laws.

if it's a daily driver your gonna need to rotate the tires,so put some spacers and run the same bs on the wheel...

Spacers would be the easiest and cheapest way to go. Later on you could always get the kit for the IFS hubs.
can someone link me to the site or the part for the ifs hub and roter conversion.
i checked sky and marlin and cannot find it.
my friend has a 91 rear axle and a 84 front and wants some 3 inch spacers up front but i told him to to this kit and then maybe some 1.5 spacers and a 1 inch rear spacers so that hes a ton wider.
all i need is a link to the ifs to straight axle conversion on the hubs and brakes thanks

Your welcome ............. I dont really see the advantage of that over spacers though

Here's another link

I can think of at least two advantages.
Stronger, and most importantly, D.O.T. legal!
supposidly the conversion kit is less stress on the nuckles and birfs.
not 100 percent sure but thats what i am told and if thats the case and they are similar price then my friend wants to run the conversion kit and spacer front and rear so hes way wider

I dont see how........ because the wheel is farther away from the birfield and knuckes. Its all about leverage, it doesnt matter how its conected. Its still leverage.
I still think its all strong enough though  as I have 2" spacers and havent (knocking on wood) had anyproblems ..... yet
Yes the steering does SU(K now, but its worth it........
**edit's**
The steering is bad because how far away the the tire is from the steering centerline.......
Theres no way that a IFS hub conversion is stronger than a spacer....... its all in the leverage...... Guys are still ripping there steering arms with hydro steering who are using spacers.... The spacer isnt the weak link.....
I really should be typing adapters instead of spacers........
Spacers are like a washer
Adapters bolt to the hub like a wheel and have there own wheel studs that the wheel bolts to
