axle questions

This is kind of a dumb question, but are the front and rear third members the same on toyota axles? Also, is there any difference between the front third member from an earlier axle (79-83) compared to the 84-85 axles. Will a V6 third fit a 4 cylinder housing?

F+R are interchangable on my truck. its an 81. I think all the 4 cyls are. peace

1- yes they are the same and interchangeable.
2- yes the flanges that the driveline bolts to will have larger bolts.
3- yes a v-6 third will fit a 4 cyl. housing.
