So, another alignment shop turned me down today on aligning my 85 4 runner with 5" lift. OF course he kept it for 3 days first..

I knows that the caster has to be way off. does any one know how to measure it without a rack and how to adjust it with out a shop. I rarely go to a shop and now I know why. He quoted me $390 for 1 tie rod end. and 800 for a muffler and tail pipe in 2 1/2"

use an angle finder. i think you can get one at a hardware store but i am not sure. you want to put it on the top of the knuckle and it may not be that accurate but you can see about where its at. i did this for mine b/c when i did my sas i put my shackles on the bottom of the frame so i could use my rears up front. this gave me about 10 degrees of caster and spec is 2 or 3 i think. make sure you are on level ground and your tires are all the same size.

To the best fo my knowlege it looks like the caster is at about 0 degrees.

Which direction should it be positive. I was told that from 2 to 4.5 degrees was good.

it should be 2-4 degrees positive. that is the top leaning back.
