My newly acquired 4-Runner, 1984, has a 4 inch lift. It has Ranchos up front, two per side. I was told that to have not such a stiff ride I can make do with only 1 of them up there. Is this so? Will it cause any damage? It's the solid axle up there.
I think it might look kinda dorky with only one wimpy shock in that open space. Is there anything I can to remedy this, perhaps make one of the others inoperational?

its more the springs than the shocks. granted the shocks aren't helping the ride at all, but rancho lift springs ride stiff as hell.
are u going mudding or rockcrawling with this thing?
if ur mudding then u 2 shocks is perfect cuz it pushes ur axles down into the mud and gives u traction.
if its a dd and a part time offroader then one shock is all u need becuz u want up travel and down travel.
ur springs are probably ranchos and are made for mud bogging as well so take a few leafs out or buy some better springs.
skyjackers, alcans, allpros, or hybrid packs
