Hey u guys, a best friend of mine and i put my timing chain in this weekend and we had it all back toether and while we had the cam sprocket on top dead center, the belt pull on the bottom was at 12, when i tried rotating it to 0 the crank on the top moved. im thinking im gonna end up tearing it back apart cause i didnt line something up correctly, or is there an easy fix to this? and if not do they make gasket sets i can seperatly for the timing chain?

Well....... i dont know of an easy fix and dont think there is one ....
so you are probably gonna have to take it back apart , take the chain off and realine it to TDC on the top and bottom shafts and this time make sure the dots line up on the sprockets and the chains colored or dotted links. cause itll most likely run like crap and backfire if you dont

If I understand correctly the cam moved? Just put the crank at zero and the cam at 12 and reinstall the chain on the sprocket and insert it on the cam. done!

No need to tear it apart

your distributor is surely not tuned right, the number one cyliner in accordance with the cap in the the distributor must be at 11 oclock. Then you can tune it with a timming light.

i got all the distributors adjusted and everything and it starts but it tries to run and dies, i had just put in a new cam shaft so might the valves be adjusted wrong or can it be the timing chain bein off a tooth?

if you still have problem keep readind if not disreguard.

I had a shop bring mine back off a tooth. I found I could advance it all the way and it ran ok, so I tore off the valve cover undid the top cog and moved it back a tooth put it back together and my old truck was back!
