Well...I replaced the missing stud with a bolt but my previously leaking header is still leaking, now what?

I guess I'll try a new gasket but is there a specific type/brand or sealant I should use to make this work? Seems like most 22r's have leaking headers so there has to be some solution by now. Pep Boys and Autozone both sell Profelt or something by that name. Will that work, or is there something different I should be doing?

BTW, the mechanic said it'll cost $100 in labor to do this. Is that about right? Or is it something I could easily do myself?

well i just had that problem with my header and i got a copper gasket from Summit for $27 and no mo leaky. i used a gasket sealent only on the bolts to keep them from backing out and "not" on the gasket. just make sure u clean every thing very good before putting the new gasket on.i done mine in 30 minutes..very easy. drive it for a few hours and retighten the bolts and thats it.just keep checking ur bolts for a few days. a bunch of guys use 2 paper gaskets taking the heat shield off of one. i hear that works also.but i recommend the copper.
