Watcha recommend for air filter/intake? (2R)

1984 4-Runner: should I stick with the stock intake and FRAM?
Or is there a better intake for drivability and power?

Is there a hi-performance drop in?
Are there any tricks to be had? I read about stching two stock filters up, que mas?

i have always been skeptical of stacking filters b/c then you are sucking air from on top the engine. i would think less filter pulling air from in front of the truck would be better.

but maybe not in new mexico:p:
