body shouldnt be that hard there is like 10 or 12 bolts that hold the body to the frame here is a pic, obviously all the wiring will need to be disconnected with the brake lines and the steering and all that 004 is the rear and 006 should be running boards

the rear bumper i think will be more difficulct due to the fact that all the bolts have been exposed thier whole life to the elements and the will be a pain to get off i would defenitly wait till the body is off to get the bumber off so you will have more access the the bolts that hold the bumber on and i would soak those bolts in penatraiting oil for a few hours before i even attempted them, but in this picture 46 and 47 should connect to the center of the bumper and then there should be some that connect the bumper to the frame rails, i dont know for sure cause my bumper is not stock best bet is just go for it and make sure you label were everything came from so it goes back together easier or you know what new hardware you will need where and how much save you a trip to the parts store

alright thank you very much those diagrams will help a lot. my rear bumper bracket that bolts together with the leaf springs shackle is crack and so are one or two other places on the rear bumper brackets. where can i get a new rear oem bumper?? Even though they are cracked this FJ40 has pulled a stuck semi out of the snow at the local target loading dock where my father worked, several really big tree stumps and several logs out. Also is there any way to remove the cowl and the tub together in one complete piece?? thanks please reply

if you mean the front clip no the fenders and the aprons and the very front pieces are all bolted together it could be done but i dont think it would work out good with out the frame to support it. its really easy to get the front off it takes about 45 minutes and proabably less with air tools. and what are you trying to do with this truck is it a resto back to factory specs or is it a build up for wheelin if your going to build it why not spend less on a stronger bumper if your trying to restore it places like cool cruisers of texas www.coolcruisers.com or www.sor.com or maybee even www.profitscruisers.com just get on line and look for links there is a bunch of places that could get you a stock bumper maybee even here on this board in other sections hope this helps
