just thought some of you might like to see my very slow progress. between 2 jobs and spending time with thte family this is going slow!
i used the motor mounts from the 22re. bellhousing from 5mge. fits like a glove. i think i need a body lift though!:cuss:

i made the engine pretty before i slapped it in.
this is an 83 motor. 85 wiring harness and computer.
8.8:1 compression 145 hp stock. i guess i'll probably get 160 or more horsepower after i finish the intake and exhaust. torque should be near that number too?

Looks great. Glad to see you took the time to clean it up and make it look good before install. I really like the diamond plate. Looks very 'Hardcore'.

I assume the harness is from an 85 supra, how much did you have to mess with it to get it to work with the original one in the truck??

the 85 harness plugs directly into the 83 motor and sensors!
the 85 computer is digital. and is supposed to help you get more horse power over the 83 computer. you also have to use the 85 throttle body with this computer. i also removed the egr stuff.
i'm waiting for a bunch of parts to start showing up so i can put my motor back together.
the 5mge is also a non interfering motor. meaning if the timing belt breaks, your internals will survive!
this is going into an 85 xtra cab. the oil pan even clears my hysteer set up. by about an inch or two. not to bad.
i still need one more wiring harness. i thinkit should be pretty easy to wire up. i'll just use the 22re manual and the 5mge manual and should have it hooked up pretty fast!
heres what it has cost me so far
83 5mge 50,00 miles and bellhousing $300
wiring harness and computer $30
afm $30
ignitor $25
throttle body from 87 cressida $25
rear lower timing cover $20
gaskets and seals (stealership) $40
other parts still needed
starter $36 (rebuilt)
timing belt $25
water pump $35
fuel lines $????
K&N cone filter $40
hooker turbo muffler 2.5" $50
fuel filter $10
oil pan gasket $10
anyone know off hand what size fuel line i should use. i have been looking in the Summit Catelog, and everything is AN fittings. i'm not sure what i should use!
thanks
