85 Runner on 35s, stock steering, 7" lift... I get a shake at about 30-40 mph.. New tires, balanced, didnt help.

If anyone has an idea.. lemme know via email.

Upper steering arms tight? Alignment ok? Defective tire w/ bulge?

hahah...they say they balanced em...dont allways take their word. most those tire guys are kids that dont give a shit or dont know what the hell theyre doin. keep takin it back till they do it right. more often than not if it only happens at a certain speed its a balance prob. if it was something serious it would be happening all the time i would think.

I will check the arms and alignment..
But the tires are balanced, I did it myself!

There's your clue right there.

Stock steering and 7" of suspension lift will open a whole can of worms.
Has the caster been checked, driveshaft lengthened, etc.?
What did you do for a torque rod and drag link?
How are your wheel bearings? TRE's?

If I had to take a guess at it, I would say it is the drive shaft. Does it get better around 45 or 50mph, and than get worse again nearing 60 or so? I would also say the stock steering needs to go if you do any wheeling, but I don't think that is causing your wobble.

Where is the 7" of lift at? All in the leaf springs? Or a combination of leafs, shackles, and body?

Thanks for the ideas. The wobble was there with the last set of 35s too. I am going to change the steering, and check alignment.. just basically go through everything. The answer is in there somewhere!
