I'm looking at swapping a carbed' 360, 727, and 20? into my 85 toy 4runner. I currently have a 22re and 5speed. Has anyone done this swap? I'm not worried about physically putting the drivetrain in, but more the wiring portion of it? any help would be appreciated. later aaron

From what I understand with the V8 swaps, one of the better engines to put in is the 351.

A guy i work with is getting ready to swap a 351 into his '94 ext cab later on this summer. he is using a ford tranny and swapping in a 9" rear as well.

Personally I think its a waste of perfectly good toyota running gear, but then again I dont play in the mud much at all, so the 3.0 has ample power for me.

well it's more the want of power. I was playing this weekend and just wish i had more power. 22re runs great but with 199,000 on it, i don't think it's meant long for this world. I'm already swapping in a dana 44 and 14 bolt and instead of the price of regearing i thought i go this route to turn my new 37's? thanks aaron

I run the 302 in my '79, the wiring is vary basic if you are carbed. I sudgest using a GM one wire alt. I did'nt like the ford p/s pump, so went back to stock toyota. hope this helps:boing :boing :boing

thanks for the tip. something i'll do. Has anybody tried integrating this with a fuel injected harness? I just don't know where to begin? thanks aaron

The main problem I see with this swap is that the 727 is a big transmission and has a pretty big bellhousing. I would think it would be hard to fit it in the tranny hump without cutting it out and forming a new one and I'm not sure if simply doing a body lift would get you enough space. Just 2 cents I had layin around

It would probably be easier using the MegaSquirt kit where you basically make your own harness as opposed to trying to get the two to work together.
