i have YUKON 5.29 gears in my truck and there awesome i can do anything i want and they just keep going. i haven't had any problems with them so far. lets keep it that way. but YUKON'S are strong and dependable.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GET GENUINE GEARS FROM 4 WHEEL PARTS!!!!!!!

ther are cheaply made and will brake in no time at all, spend a little more to get a quality product. so you dont have to spend even more money getting two sets of gears and having them both installed.

i have some for sale already installed take a look in the for sale section. BTW genuine gears are gauanteed for life so if you do break them u can get a new set, its a hassle yes, but its better then gettin screwed

You guys crack me up about the Genuine gears! How many of you have actually run them and broke them . Most of the people who post that they suck have never run them. Most likely you are web wheelers and you saw that a friend of a friend broke a set and now you post it here:cuss: I have run Genuine's and I would recommend them. 5.71's at that:Thumbsup:

The brand issue has been addressed above  , so I'll answer the 1st part of your question.

Yes, it is MUCH cheaper if you pull the 3rds and carry them in.

Here are some average figures:

Labor - $65-75/hr x 2-3 hr x 2 diffs.
R&P - $200 x 2
Master bearing/install kit - $100 x 2

approx $860 - 1050 depending on labor $

I've ran them for years with no issues. ;) You may want to do a search, the gear thing was recently discussed in another thread.

Yeah, I think there is a lot of truth to that. All I have ever known anybody to break is 4.88's for some reason.....
