I have an 88 4runner. I put a new clutch in a year ago but it’s slipping when I try to go up a rock. I know the clutch is not worn out but it just has a weak spring or something. Am I going to have to replace it? If so ill be looking for a new one. Any suggestion on a good clutch. Thanks.

The Luk Gold is well worth the money. You can get them at Pep Boys for pretty cheap.

If it's a cheepo clutch you put in there, it could very well be worn already.
TOYOTA OEM clutches are the best, strongest, out there.

Good luck with it, a lot of folks rock crawling have not liked the Centerforces, not much play at all, it's either in or not.
Just relaying info.

Sorry, I don't and personally I don't have any first hand knowledge or experience, it is only what a few old members had reported.
I just replaced my tranny and clutch with ones from marlin... The clutch seemed pretty well built, and it still allows you to feather it just like the stock clutch. I think that it was about $180. I've never been dissapointed with stuff from marlin. http://www.marlincrawler.com/clutch.html

I agree with ian, if you want to spend the extra money, go with the Marlin, but I have heard from a few people that the Luk Gold is about the best for the money

I was told by a tranny shop that they only install LUK clutches, and OEM clutches.

CenterForce clutches are great for Racing. I have owned about 6 of them and replaced them Semi-annually. As long as you are either In or OUT. They dont get along with "Feathering" and they really dont like your left leg when you have to hold the pedal down. They "Chatter" when engaging them but they do bite hard, and the more performance one you get the worse the symptoms are. Thats from experience while driving a very fast Stang.

I put the Toyota TRD heavy duty clutch in my 87. I don't wheel it, but I sure like it's driving characteristics. If you wheel the vehicle and haven't changed gears for larger tires you'll wear the clutch fairly quickly.
