Friend of mine picked up a couple 3rds from the wreckers. the one looks different than other yota diffs i have seen. they are both 30 spline and the 3rd member bolt pattern looks the same but they are a few things different about them .
The first one which is the strange one has different side adjusters that the normal ring with holes. And the pinion flange has threaded holes into instead of just holes for a bolt and nut.
Also the the carrier has this steel tube piece in it between where the axles sit.
The second is obviously a 3rd gen carrier out of a 4runner. or is it ? the carrier looks like comes apart cause it has another series of bolts inside the ring gear bolt circle. it is 30 spline as well.
also there is some kind of sensor with a wire or tube than goes into the 3rds housing. what is it ?
do these look familiar ?
