An 87 Runner used as my DD. Cruise control stopped working.

When I select the dash mounted cruise button, the indicator light comes on briefly then flashes off and on. It flashes twice, pauses, then repeats.

I had the combination switch partially out last night messing with the high beam switch but Im not sure if the cruise worked before I pulled the steering wheel. I know it was working last weekend, but not since.

Does the flashing indicate anything? I'll pull the wheel again to see if I ganked a plug or wire out, but I'm doubtful that's the issue. Anything else to look for?

I commute home 7 hours each way on weekends and the cruise is more than a nice option - it's damn near a necessity.

Can you pick up a spare Cruise control arm from a bone yard and see if that takes care of it? I just saw one a pick n pull last week. If you cant find one let me know I will swing by and see if they still have it. I was an 86 sr5 runner.

Haven't been able to find one locally. I guess cruise wasn't a popular item on the Runners in this neck of the woods.

Any idea what a used one would cost from the wreckers?

I'd heard a burnt brake light (or brake indicator on dash) could also cause this problem. My dash light was out, been replaced and still the same problem. I'll keep an eye out for the CC/wiper stalk...

Tracked down the problem.

I had pinched the CC wires when I reinstalled the steering column trim pieces.

Dumbass!
