ya there is a thing of too light though like the toy in the pic 1985Toyota posted is my brothers and it is the perfect weight actually, not to heavy in snow, and its not to light, if ur too light u bounce all over the place goin up a hill.

God BamBam Your toy is pretty phat dude, what all do you have into it?

BamBam

Thanks, I appreciate it. It took a bit of work. Right now it has:

35/16 boggers
5.29's welded in the rear, lockrite in the front
5" All Pro front springs
Marlin High Steer
Have Longfield Chromoly inners for when the stocks go
Rancho 5000's
IFS steering box swap
Chopped the bed
Bobbed about 12" off the frame
The bed cost me about $220 to build
Sliders were about $80 to fabricate
It has the automatic tranny right now, making funny noises but still works pretty well actually.
Also have a W56 and T-case withe pedals and all the clutch stuff ready to go in if the auto goes. Probably order my 4.7's this next weekend.
Altogether right now I have about $4000 in it .

Oh yeah, and BullsBallz

Here is what it looks like when I bought it for $1300.00, when it had junky Skyjacker springs that rode like a log wagon.

I don't know, man. I've been on the heavy side and there are definate disadvantanges. Now the push is to shave pounds (100's so far), and with matching spring rates and shock dampening, along with lowered CG, I can say the lighter, the better. Proper set up is everything.

Not calling Johnny a crook, I said there are too many crooks there. That doesnt mean everybody. It's like saying there are too many gays in San Francisco, that doesn't mean everybody, but I'm not interested in going there.
It's all personal choice and free speech.:cuss:

hahahaha, frst of all i think its funny, bambam, that you mentioned the gays in san fransisco and had the gif of the smiler bendin over. anyway, for my flatbed i just took a sawall and cut the bed rails off, then took it lengthwise right next to the frame rails. that left me with a flat bed and a little bit of the fender well stickin up, took the sawzall to that too. now my lights and license plate are held on by bailin wire and i couldnt be happier.

05-13-2004, 07:02 AM
hahahahah Cant get much better than that what kind of future plans are you doing to it? or leavin it like that lol

southern_yota
05-13-2004, 01:14 PM
think i'm just gonna keep it like that, i got a bed bob and a flat bed outta the same job. i bought one of those heavy duty truck boxes for the back that i keep on with tie down for my tools, parts, tent, etc. have room for a spare on there too. i love it.

i dont have a camera, i'll try and borrow a friends and see what i can do. yea all it cost me was the price of an extra pack of sawzall blades. i'll hopefully put up some pics by the end of next week.

Thanks! I've done a little bit more work on it but that's the most recent photo that I have. I can't remember how long it is. I only bobbed about 4" off the frame rails and it's as long as the frame. I want to say around 60", but I'm not 100% sure about that. The flatbed thread was on Pirate4x4.....

Do you guys have any ideas for a flat bed and exo skeleton?

I was thinking a bed like the allprooffroad.com flat bed kit with the standard exo plus chopped fenders with the frame going through or right around where it is chopped and I don't know what kind of bumper I want.

Heres a link to my fender idea.

Can I get some input or ideas for that and the front

I made a few little changes to my bed. I plugged the ends, smoothed all the welds and sharp edges with a flap disk, removed the Delta toolbox that leaked water and mounted two 20mm ammo boxes. I also cut a few links of chain and welded them around the lower deck to use as tie-down points. Over the 4th weekend I sanded the truck down and sprayed it Lime Green. :Freak:

hey.. i'm planning on doing a flatbed this fall i'm gonna use steel 2x4 to make the bed frame then diamond plate for the bed with 1" box tubing for bed supports my question is how do you guys mount the beds to the frame.. i'd rather not weld it directly to the frame but i guess that's the best way? it's an 85 by the way..

if i was going to weld it.. i think i would use 1" box tubing comming down from the bed supports to the frame

if i was going to bolt it on.. i would do the same but put a piece of steel on the bottom of the box tubing and bolt it down to the original mounts.. like this --> L <-- the bolt would go through the bottom of the L

which way do you guys think is best? i don't think my idea for bolting it in is very good.. any better ones if bolting it in is the best way.. thanks alot ~mark

Here is the bed that I've got on my parts buggy. I don't remember if I posted it previously or not, but its 1" square tubing, and was going to match the roof rack I was going to build.
http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/9351/Bedandrearbumpermounted.jpg

Its not the best picture, but its wider between the rear axle and the rear of the cab, and narrows in front of the rear axle so the tires would clear during flex.

Anybody want it? :p:
