As some of you know... I had the epic journey of swapping some gears
in my Cruiser...
Had the Full-Float rear axle for a couple months, finally decided to get ready to
install it...
Decide that the FF ARB is stronger than my SF ARB, thus decide to
sell my 4.56's and ARB's to a freind (Sully) and start over with new
FF ARB's and 4.88's...
Rear axle went fairly smooth, 3/16" diff. gaurd, lots of paint, lots
of cleaning, all said and done the FF looks great...
Front axle was another story. I had always suspected my front axle
housing was bent, turns out it was 1" out of line... So, cut and
turn new axle, build diff. gaurd (front housing was dented), added a
truss (to prevent bending). Have the housing sand-blasted (thanks
for the lead Paul) and lots of paint.
Now while I had my front axle all torn apart, I may as well install
that hydro-assist setup I have has sitting for months. Get my box
ported, I modified my pump, weld the ram mounts on the axles and tie-
rod... (Thanks to Rocklogic4x4 for the awesome setup)
Also swapped out my clicking Longs for a set of Smurfs.. we'll see how long they last. :D
ARB compressor was shot (submerged it in muddy water for a minute or
two), so sent it off to ARB to be rebuilt ($50 round-trip)...
Also decided to repaint my rims, had the beadlock rings blasted and
repainted them blue (Why not?)...
Complely rebuit my Aisin hubs (I can now do them in the dark, behind
my back, with two-fingers). Painted the faces blue (why not?) and
reassembled them...
Took the top off, just in time for some snow.. WTF?
PS... "Trail Trailer" is coming along nicely... Sandy clean-up days
has netted my the needed propane regulator for the propane mount,
and the generator is good to go... Is it time for camping or what?
Pics coming soon
