I have the 85 4x4. Straight axle, I was wondering where to find the gaskets that are on the axle that connect the hubs to the axle housing? I don't even know what they are called or anything. This is the second toyota that I have owned and never encountered this problem before.

You can get a whole rebuild kit for your axle from kurt @ cruiseroutfitters.

For the actual name of that gasket... how about hub body inner gasket.. sure the dealership has one...

I hate paper gaskets, they always leak. I use hi temp silicone on everything....

Another thing you can do is call Marlin like GJC mentioned and get a entire knuckle rebuild set. For the price you cant beat that and get everything to do the front. Last time i checked it was around $100 or so.. I called one of the local Toyota dealerships last year to price out the front set and they quoted me like $400 for everything.. damn.. us canadians get raped with this stuff . So then it was "hello allpro i need a knuckle set" done

Front axle rebuild kits are available from AP, Marlin, JT Outfitters, and others, but none are truly complete except the delux kit from JTO, which has bearings the others don't come with, the 1 1/8" socket you need, a tub of grease.

You know where how to remove the front third right? I just pull those 6 bolts that are on the back side of the birfields and then pull the tie rod pins. The place that has the 6 bolts has a gasket that is the one that I am talking about.

Are you talking about the felts that are held on with 10mm heads. It has two rings that hold it to the back side of the knuckle with those 10mm heads holding the ring and felt and that rubber ring in place? If so most of those kits will have all that stuff you need in them.
