i only have 2wd as of right now, i have something broken in the ifs i havent checked it out that much but i think its a ring gear, cause when i turn both shafts the lock at same spot, then i can turn in them backwards and then they lock there again, it kinda pops when its in 4wd with or without the hubs locked, i dont want to break any thing elese.

By the way, I used to be pretty good friends w/ Scott, the owner out at All Toyota. My younger brother and his kid used to hang out alot, I wish I would keep in touch w/ Scott a little more. Havent talked to him since last summer. Anyway, point being, is I have connections w/ the owner...lol.

I think that might be my problem. My rear vibes like an expensive...well, you know what, lol! It's either the carrier bearing, U-Joints, driveline, or maybe a wheel weight. Its not getting better either. As soon as I hit 45 mph, it vibes like a sonuvabitch, and only while I'm on the gas. As soon as I let off, it stops vibing. I dunno. Hoping to find some stuff at All Toyota I can use. Hope to see ya on saturday.

u know i was thinkin the cascades are a pretty big barrier, maybe under the washington chapter we should have 2 sectors, east and west. it would be kinda hard to get all the chapter over to spokane or all in seattle for something except big events. i just thought it may be easier, have one head guy and one treature but have reps from one side and the other that are closer to the groups.

just a thought, maybe after it gets bigger

YakimaYota
05-13-2004, 03:30 PM

81 camo yota

we need a hq, somewhere where the most of us are close to, in the east and west. i suggest buckley for the west, most of us can get there in a half an hour. if more join on the pennisula the we could move it to tacoma, we dont need a building but we do need a place where we can all meet, the410 cafe is where the faithwheelers meet. its a good place to eat and its easily accessable.

just another thought, holler if u got more ideas. or im me at toyrunner95 on aim.

Atleast to the road that you take off of Mountain highway. I will get that. Hey Dj You said that you have a listof numbers of those that are interestedin being part of the chapter right. Do you know if you are going to be there yet? If not would you email me a copy of that so that I can Call if need be?

Directions
6.3 mi E of Elbe, off SR706

If this helps

:Help: Directions

Drive past the town of Elbe about five or ten miles. You will see a sign (on right) for the ORV park and the turn will be on your left very shortly after the sign. After you make the turn, you start up the hill and the pavement will turn to gravel. Follow the road staying to the right past the first "Y". At the second "Y" go to your left. Take the next left and you will see the parking/camping area on your right.

u do NOT need a pass if u are running the trails or roads, the pass they sell is for parking only. they do sell a restricted access pass though, that give a person access to the restricted areas but they are only sold to people in the timber buisness. ie. whearhouser.

No you don't have to have a pass like Evans. The things about other kinds of wheelers is that, Its ok to bring them we can't tell them they can't be there if they want to be. Besides it always nice to have extra people. Can make it more fun, a bunch of toys pulling out other kinds of rigs. I will talk to DJ to find out if its for sure ok that they come but I am sure that he will not care either.

You are going to go up meridian until you get to Eatonville. When you get there the road is going to y off right at the top of the hill coming into Eatonville. You want to go right onto lynch rd. Follow it down till you get to tall timbers it is on the left side of the road. I am sure that you will see my truck there I will park out front. If you can't find parking out front then you can go into the alley right behind it and there is more parking. Here is a map

Don't forget about the Faithwheelers Obstacle Course on June 26th at Cranberry Lake. That's about 20 minutes south of Tacoma, WA at 392nd and Hwy 7.

We have 2 obstacle course with similar obstacles, just different sizes. Any and all rigs can come out and play, from the stocker to the comp buggy.

The cost is FREE! A Tech inspection is required and you can find the details on our website. www.faithwheelers.com.

We'll have a MUCH improved mud bog this year and won't have last year's problem on a limited water supply. Along with a good natural supply, we're bringing in 16,000 gallons of additional water.

Many of the other obstacles will have water this year as well. The potholes and trenches will be filled with water, making them much more challenging when you can't see the lines. The log crossings will be more like a moderate version of the frame twister seen on the Tough Truck challenges.

This is free to spectators as well so come out and have fun.

I'll have a registration form available online by Monday. Anyone who brings in their registration form filled out in advance, will get a free raffle ticket. Currently we have some great prizes. ARB has a coupon for 25% off the jobber rate on anything in their catalogue, Schaeffer has donated a 3rd Gen 4runner pan hard drop bracket, Tuffy donated a $50 gift certificate, High Angle driveline has donated a $100 gift certificate, Skyjacker has donated a $500 gift certificate, a set of 4 shocks, a set of extended braided brake lines and a steering stabilizer, Billy Bob's Offroad has donated a dozen t-shirts - and more to come!

We want to thank our major sponsors, Skyjacker, the Bear of Suspensions, Northshore 4x4, Java Junkies and AOR4x4.

This is going to be a lot of fun. I hope many of you can make it out to play, if not, just to watch.

The basics for the trail/street class are:

Must have valid insurance.
Driver must have a valid drivers license.
Driver's AND passengers MUST wear a helmet on the course.
Each vehicle must have a fire extinguisher.
In open roofed vehicles, you must have a proper roll bar.
In solid roof vehicles without doors, there must be an internal roll bar.

For the vehicles that don't have insurance, you'll have to meet the comp rules.
These are much more extensive. You'll find them on our website at
http://207.202.208.243/faithwheelers/tech_inspection.htm

redbogger

r u serious? we have to were helmets? what kind? bicycle, motorcycle, dot aproved?

toyrunner95
06-16-2004, 09:13 PM
yep u have to wear a helmet, there have been too many people that cracked their skull on their own roll bars and door frames not to. not at our event but at others around the country, trust me it would behoove u to wear one. the rock piles get the rigs movin pretty hard.

they have to be DOT approved ie motorcycle helmets they arent hard to find an pawn shops and what not. try the 410 pawn shop he might have some.

I got one. i just red ur link for the rules and regs. i meet all the requirments except the roll cage or roll bar part. i rolled a toyota single cab truck at 65 and the cab bearly even crnuched in. can i still run?

toyrunner95
06-16-2004, 09:22 PM
it depends on what u are running, the red truck or something else. if u have aim im on toyrunner95 try me there. or call me
if its open door it has to have a roll bar, if its open top it has to have a roll cage. but i think u are alright if u just have a full truck cab. dented but intact but u have to have a roll bar behind the cab its under cages on the third line down.

My registration for the board finally got approved - it only took about a week!

Anyway, the Faithwheelers Obstacle Course is definitely on. We'll be working out there this weekend getting much of the course ready - then doing the touch up work on Friday the 25th.

Key things -
We have 3 separate areas to run, 2 different obstacle courses, the big one is only available to built rigs. If you're not running 33s, locked with some articulation you will not be successful on the big course even if you don't try to rock piles. We also have the mud bog that everyone can try.

Make sure that you have tow hooks! We ripped a bumper off the first year on a guy that hooked up the tow strap to his bumper mounted grill guard - whoops.

Tech inspection. This was quoted earlier, but I'll review it.
DOT approved helmets are required by our insurance company. This is the same with all events that are covered by the PNW4WDA insurance program. This is the first year we've needed the helmets, but we have to follow the rules. A fire extinguisher is also required. The other tidbits that will cause problems for rigs in the street/trail class are
1) battery not properly secured.
2) pickup trucks without doors and without a cage. A pickup truck without doors MUST have an internal cage.
3) open top vehicles - like Jeeps must have a cage.
If you have insurance on your vehicle and it's licensed, you'll fit in the class and everything will be fine.

If it's a non-insured, trailered rig, then you have to meet the comp rules which are a lot more stringent. The problems here are going to be for the guys that have rigs that are too beat up to drive on the road, but haven't put the safety stuff on their rig. They'll get to sit in the parking lot and watch.

Whether you like, mud, rocks, trying a variety of obstacles or just watching everyone else have fun - it's a great day and even better - it's FREE!

We also have some great raffle prizes! Check out the info on our website at www.faithwheelers.com

BTW, we were up working on the course today and got some new pics. We primarily worked on tweaking the big course, a little work on the mud bog.

We start on the tweaking of the smaller course on Friday.

Here's Jaydog digging some holes on the exit of the new "Hidden Treasures Obstacle. http://209.20.253.189/obstaclecourse2004/dsc01097.jpg
These are the hidden treasures. http://209.20.253.189/obstaclecourse2004/dsc01098.jpg
This entire hole will be filled with water - the rocks will be pretty much under water. Here's the overall view of this obstacle. http://209.20.253.189/obstaclecourse2004/dsc01097.jpg

Next is the crossover check. If time allows, it may get a little taller.
http://209.20.253.189/obstaclecourse2004/dsc01101.jpg

Coming up is the banked turn. A motorcycle course got to this last year and smoothed it out. Jason took care of that today...
http://209.20.253.189/obstaclecourse2004/dsc01102.jpg Here's the result with Dave making the first test run. http://209.20.253.189/obstaclecourse2004/dsc01107.jpg
Justin takes a crack on the upgraded frame twister obstacle. This year the area between the log has been dug out again and will be filled with water. http://209.20.253.189/obstaclecourse2004/dsc01115.jpg

I didn't get any pics of the next turn that's over a large log. We have a lot of rocks to place on the exit side to make the turn more interesting. The mogules up next were also rebuilt and expanded. The trenches were cleaned up. This year the trenches will be filled with water again making is more difficult to see the lines. http://209.20.253.189/obstaclecourse2004/dsc01110.jpg

Here's a couple shots of the work getting the mud bog dug out and tweaked. http://209.20.253.189/obstaclecourse2004/dsc01116.jpg
http://209.20.253.189/obstaclecourse2004/dsc01117.jpg

I don't think we get many chances to get more pic published before the weekend. I hope it'll give you a good look at what lies ahead. The smaller course is being completely redeveloped on Friday.

I'm gonna like watchin' this guy!

I'm just putting on my AOR Orbit Eyes 7" lift springs in the rear. I was hoping to do it without removing the gas tank, but I think there's going to be too much cutting and grinding right near the tank :o(

Oh wel, what's another couple of hours to drop the tank and put it back up again :cuss:

redbogger
06-23-2004, 11:39 AM
i cant wait to see ur truck to. my truck looks completly different than the pic on the side. if ur gonna drop ur tank. i should just relocate it. if not just move the brake and fuel lines away from the area. wrap them with wet towls. and u'll be fine. the gas tank has that protective shield on it with about and 1-2" of space to the real tank or just wrap the tank with a wt towl as well. i have to do the same thing with my all pro springs.

Gibby
06-23-2004, 11:18 PM
I was able to get it all done without moving the tank. A lot more careful grinder time for a job that could've been done in 15 seconds with a torch, but the tank got to stay in place.

The thing was flipping HUGE and I had to remove the blocks that I'd put in place for my VERY tired AP springs.
7" spring lift, 2" block lift, 2" body lift and 40" tires. I sat a full 16" higher than stock! The tops of my tires didn't even reach the bottom of the body...

Only a couple things left to tweak before the weekend. I knicked a brake line with the grinder - that's gotta go. I have to reattach some of the wiring and such around the tailgate (I had to replace that last week). Then just clean up and load up.

I'll be camping onsite Friday night. I might have to go for a night run through the course - I think I'm sick!!!!!!!!

alot of people enjoyed it, we had some problems in the beginning of the mud bog, we were doing alot of pulling and we didnt think it was very fair, the point of it was to have fun not just get stuck, alot of people broke stuff in there, we wanted it to get deeper as you went along but we decided against too deep so that every one could get in it with 33s or bigger, a few clogged motors, an axel, hub, and someother stuff. my boots are toast. up to my knees in the gunk wasnt the funest thing, plus someone ran over my foot and i didnt notice till sunday morning. i heard that only one person made it all the way around the big course. we'll keep tweaking it just give us suggestions and we will try to accomadate most of them.

We will be doing the again next year. Compared to other events like this, I think the language and beer was pretty calm, but we all agreed that we could've handled that bunch better. I wish I'd know about the problems and I would've taken care of it.

There always have to be a couple of idiots in every crowd and I bet that if any of them are in this forum that they wouldn't have the guts to even fess up. Idiots like that will be dealt with in a likewise fashion the next year, like the idiots that they are.

It really sucks that a couple of people have to try to spoil every thing they do. We go and put on a nice clean show for free, for everyone to attend and they TRY to spoil it. From all the comments I've heard, they failed!

If anyone happened to get these idiots or their vehicles on camera somehow, forward the pics to me, please.

BTW, where's everyone's pics?

the dozer operators and i noticed alot of things but i was too small to do much and the operators needed to pull people, plus we were kinda busy keepin the rules in check, there was one group i told to keep the beer to a minimum and the comments to them selves but apparently they didnt listen. most of the people there i would actually like to thank, many of the ones who brought beer or alchoal asked us if they could "crack a few open" and we told them no, not on the grounds, off the grounds sure we dont care but not here, and many respected that, a few i had to remind but they got the clue.

Pushing contest with a Samurai? Must not have been much of a contest, Samurai motors are weak. Unless they had the 1.6 liter and gears. I can make fun of Suzuki's I own one and have many friends with them. They make good trial rigs.

I guess I've been sleeping. People are crazy for Wild Yoats. Can't there be a club as well as a forum? I have a Wild Yoats sticker on my windshield, and at least 1 person a day comes to my truck with a pen and paper to get the website. I even get some old guys. I mean guys in there 60's. I think Wild Yoats Toyota truck and 4Runner forum is absolutely the best. I've been given alot of good solid advice and technical information here. I've been wanting to start a Toyota 4X4 club here in Yuma, Arizona. Is there a copyright on the name "Wild Yoats"? I saw a thread where another guy wants to make stickers using the Wild Yoats logo or name.

You need to send a PM to Johnny Lang. I know for sure when he ended the club part of it last year he did not want the name used in anyway unless it was on a sticker or the Web site. He spent 10 years trying to grow the club and am sure it was like BANG HEAD HERE alot. Try to find a local club and go to a few meetings to see if you like it. Then you will have an idea of how you would like to run your own club if and when you get a chance. Good Luck

I get that alot too when i take my truck out wheelin. I was wondering If it would be possible to start our own individual clubs for each state and this could be like our meeting place or something. would something like that be possible?

I wouldn't think it would hurt. If anything, it would put help advertise the Wild Yoats website. I would like to get Johnny Lang's blessing on this. We could call the clubs, Wild Yoats of Washington or Wild Yoats of Arizona... That's just an idea. So we don't get messed up on the emails and individual club's websites.

Ha ha, this is like a old flame starting back up. For ten years we had the Wild Yoats Club. It grew to many chapters. I honestly wish that all the chapters would have been more like the Colorado chapter, they seemed like they were the only chapter that had it together.

As it remains, as of Jan. 1st of this year, Wild Yoats, a registered name, is no longer a club, just a forum. This is the way it will be. Over the last ten years my name has been associated with the Wild Yoats name, as well as my business license. Not to mention, the BLM, a Federal Entity, is aware of Wild Yoats with me being the founder and president.

With that said, I think it is great that people get the web address and talk about Yoats, it makes me happy to hear that Toyota enthusiasts are out there still. We certainly tried the club thing in many different states, it just flat out didn't work out. If EVERYONE was as gung-ho as just a couple, things may have gone a lot smoother and responsibilities would have been equally shared.

Sorry to say, the club issue is dead. It will not happen and I can only hope that the forum will continue to be one of the best resources out there for Toyota 4x4 enthusiasts.

Happy Wheeling
