Just thinkin, how hard would it be to swap a 3.0 V6 for my 22RE?

Are ya talking about trannies or engines?

All I have to say is its a bad idea. keep the W56. It is reliable stout and you probably have a gear driven t-case.

Also the R150F first gear isnt as low as a w56 ( 3.93 ) compared to 3.83.

Ok so I'm dumb... got alot on my mind ok
I've got the auto tranny now, still looking at my options for that. Was thinkin of getting an auto out of a T100 or a Taco so I can bolt up a Marlin Crawler. Good ole Speedy's got that truck with the V6 and the R150 and I'm tempted to swap the whole thing out. I like wheelin with an auto but I've already encountered a situation where the tranny wouldn't turn the wheels and that was just on a snow bank! :Freak: I know I can't bolt up a Crawler to my curent case but does anyone know if I could put 4.7s in it or do you all think that would be a waste? I do however have an 88 reg cab with a 22re, would that be a W56 and would it be a top shift case? I'd check but my Dad thinks its his DD. Bought for $500 and runs perfect. Time to go, I'm rambling again(must have sleep)!

It should be a w56.... and it could be either top shift or forward....

You should get a dual case set up and not just one case and gears or else you will regret it. It becomes so slow that you wont be able to cross mud or crawl as fast as with the original stock low.

2 cases all the way!! In my opinion that is the 3rd thing to do now on a Toy, 1) winch, 2)lift/tires, 3)dual case.....

I can't bolt up a crawler to the 340, and I already bought a single case cross member from Budbuilt and had it powder coated. If I swapped trannys could I still use this crossmember for a dual case application if I remounted it back further. Is it possible to know which t case I have with just a casual glance.

No you need a dual case Bud Built.

The gears and lockers will have to wait untill the SAS so I'm trying to do what I can right now. Would it be worth it to put an IFS lift up front so I can put some AP springs out back and get some offroad performance out of it? I've got a Roger Brown 2" body lift and motor spacers and a Bud Built crossmember with a 2" drivetrain lift. Just waiting to get my crossmember back from the powdercoaters to install it. In the end I'll be running 37" MTRs or Iroks and I'm unsure if the A340 will hold up.

Sure you can crank the torsion bars to get 1 -1 1/2" of lift but you won't get more wheel travel and its just a matter of days or weeks before the front end will wear out at an extreme rate... But I did run like that for 2 year on a previous runner...

i cranked the torsion bars on my '94 pickup when i installed some new SAWs, it lifted the truck a bit, but it rode really stiff. so much so that a week later i dropped it back down.
Bottom line: If you are planning a SAS to begin with, dont bother dumping money into the IFS, that way you can save the $$$ and do what you want sooner.
If you absolutely have to have bigger meats now try trimming the fenders or doing a fiberglass conversion. way cheaper than an IFS lift.
