The good: US Gear , Richmond, Precision

The bad: Genuine Gear

Yukon are re-badged gears of 2 different grades: Good quality (usually US Gear), and cheap crud. Yukon is considered a quaility brand, but don't get the "budget" gears from them or you'll be sorry.

Haven't heard much about Sierra, but I think it's the same situation as Yukon. Just re-badged stuff from other manufacturers.

per the Sierra gears.......That would be West Coast Differential...and they do something similar to Randys....WCD offers Hi qual and boxes them as a "West Coast Box" and they have another box with "Sierra" on it and put the crap gears in them.
Anybody wanna take a guess where some/all of Precision gears might come from?...................... How about Italy. I only hear this info 2nd hand from Randys/WCD.....but there are 5 gear making plants in Italy......Precision gears might come from the 2nd best or 3rd best plant.....the cheap "value" gears obviously come from plant #5.

US GEARS are from Illinois. They use the"Phoenix 5 cut system" for the Toyota gears.

PS---all of this info could be bull depending on the sincerity of the wcd/randy people. I did not follow these gears back to China or Italy and watch them make them. :) ZUK

WRONG...

Sierra gears are alot higher quality than that of the "Yukon" budgets... I have sold hundreds of Sierra sets without a SINGLE return, I have run 4 sets of them myself, zero problems. Every Toyota set that I have ever sold is an Italian gear mad my Antonia Masairo (sp?) Same maker as alot of the other $$$ gears. The "West Coast Box" most likely comes as a US Gear, so your paying a little more for the name!

Mepco (Utah's largest/oldest Jeep shop) also uses Sierra for 90% of their sales/installs... once again few problems...

Plus the Sierra gear boxes have a Toyota on the box, how can anything associated with that be crap?

Thank for the info guys......so I'm assuming the "Get front and rear gear sets with master install kits for under$400.00" are most likely the cheap low quality sets. I work hard for my $$$ and want something that will last.

Yeah, thats most likely the Genuines... sure they are warranteed, but your time and heartache is not... Spend another $100 and get all Timken/Sierra/Koyo parts :D

I'd expect to pay no less than $175 per R&P, and master install kits are around $100 like Kurt said. Any gears you can buy for $125 should be avoided like poo-poo undies.:no no:

I ran Genuines w/ no problem 5.71's to boot. I also ran superior w/ no problems.
